Can you adjust yourself?

Can you adjust yourself?

Is it really necessary to go a chiropractor for a spinal adjustment? Why can't we adjust ourselves? Is it possible to adjust yourself? If anyone should be able to adjust themselves, it would be chiropractors. We'll let you in on a little secret: chiropractors have to go to chiropractors.

It is possible to "crack" yourself, but as a rule, it's not possible to give yourself an adjustment. Although a release from tension is sometimes felt, it's usually temporary and the urge to "crack" reappears. The cause of the hypermobility has not been cleared up. In order to be effective, an adjustment usually requires a specific force introduced into the fixation at a specific angle which is rarely possible to do to oneself.
